The next day was spent mostly in transit to Florence. On our way there we stopped in both Tuscany and Pisa.
In Tuscany, we visited an olive and grape farm. This was probably Richie's favorite stop. We were out in the countryside and the Italian countryside is surely gorgeous. They gave us a short tour of their farm and told us about their processes, and then treated us to a delicious lunch in their restaurant, which of course was hundreds of years old and the food was to die for good.
Then we hopped on the bus and headed to Pisa. From what it sounds like, Pisa is both historically and present day kind of looked down upon by most Italians. It's one main draw is the leaning tower. Walking into the attraction, there were lots of street vendors selling trinkets. The tower and baptistry and chapel were gorgeous. We kept seeing these ancient buildings over and over again, but you just couldn't get over the artistry and effort it took to build them! Of course, we took the classic Leaning Tower of Pisa pictures.
We made it to Florence by that night and once we offloaded our luggage at our hotel, we ventured out to Santa Croce to check out the church, get some grub and browse the famous holiday market that's there every year. So much cool stuff!
