2 months! Really?

Yes it's true, Miles has been with us for 2 whole months. Time is such a crazy thing. On one end, I feel like this is going way too fast and on the other, it feels like it has always been this way and that any other part of my life was so long ago. This is the best part of my life so far though. Miles is finally starting to chunk out a little. We're workin on getting his cheeks extra big so that he'll be able to handle all the kisses he's going to get over graduation/blessing weekend. He is sleeping much better at night now that he is in his crib, but that still means at least one middle of the night feeding. His latest habit is hitting himself in the head! No joke. I don't get it. The hits are fairly hard too! He doesn't cry about it ( tough kid), I guess he just can't control his arms quite yet. His smiles are pretty much my favorite part of the day. He's even tried to laugh once or twice! HIs latest and greatest accomplishment is projecting his spit up an entire 35 inches from his mouth. (Yes, I actually got the tape measure.) We are so proud of our little Miles! :) Enjoy some pictures!

Richie's in Heaven

So, the snow finally melted enough that the frisbee golf course in Idaho Falls isn't covered. Richie has been waiting for this day for about 5 months now, so it was no surprise when he called me from work and practically begged me, like a little boy, if we could go after work for date night. Sometimes he's six. :) So we bundled Miles up, put him in the backpack and had a grand old time "frolfing". This particular course is a full 18 holes, but we only played about 11. What can I say, Richie is dang good at tossing plastic discs long distances accurately. I on the other hand, used Miles as an excuse not to throw as much since I'm SO not as good. But just being outside on such a BEAUTIFUL day was fantastic. The weather has been great and we've all got Spring fever, "and the only prescription is more cowbell." We even got a jamba juice afterwords (my favorite), and rented Mission Impossible 3 from clean flicks. Such a fun night.

This is Richie climbing a huge tree after losing one of the discs! Who knew he was such a monkey!?

I did it!

Well, after debating with myself for quite some time, it came down to the fact that I just needed a change. So I had my friend Angie cut my hair on Thursday. I felt like I was on "What Not to Wear", without my ego being ripped to shreds. It was great! I really like the way it turned out and maybe we'll save some money on Shampoo and Conditioner!

Moving!

The craziest thing happened the other day. Richie has a mission buddy who has been temporarily living up here managing the storage units his parents built. Well, he and his wife wanted to move back to Arizona, and Richie ran into him the other day at work and mentioned that we would be interested in managing. The next day, we were to go over to the storage units to be interviewed by his mom. After a few minutes, she said that if it sounded good to us, we were in! Woah! The deal is that we live in the on site apartment and I deal with customers from 9-5 and Richie helps me plow snow in the winter, and we get free rent, utilities and many amenities. After more units start being rented, we will also be paid. We have been praying for an opportunity like this for quite some time. Every time we do our budget and see how much money is going to rent, it just makes us sick. We were hoping to maybe manage an apartment complex, but this works so much better. Now all the money we would be paying for rent, we can save, maybe even for a down payment on a house. We are only moving about 5 minutes away, right on the outskirts of Rexburg, but technically in the town of Sugar City. (even smaller than Rexburg, if you can believe it :) Jill (the owner) has it set up where I can stay in the apartment all day if I wanted and answer the phone from there, and there is a bell to tell me when a customer comes in. This business rents storage units, uhauls and sells packing material. I'm a little nervous, but once I get into the swing of it, I'm sure I'll be fine. Another thing I'm stressing over is switching wards. I know it's a natural time to transition into a family ward, but I sure love our married student ward. I'm really attached, but I know change is good... we'll see.
Here's the kicker....are you ready for this? We need to be moved in a week and a half!! We really could have stretched it and moved in later, but that means paying another months rent for only living here for part of the month and, the sooner we move in, the sooner the family can get back to AZ. We're doing each other favors here. So last night I went and got some boxes. Oh joy. To me, moving is one big hassle. But it will be worth it. The apartment we'll be living in is probably twice as big as the one we're in now. 2 full bathrooms, 2 bedrooms, a big kitchen/dining/living room area, laundry room, and tons of storage! It even has an actual coat closet, can you believe it? No more throwing coats on the back of the recliner! So, for those of you coming up in April for Miles' blessing, we'll have more room for you!
The end

Let me call you sweetheart

So, before Miles was even born, his aunt Makenna sent him THE cutest outfit for Valentine's Day. It says, "My heart belongs to mommy" on it, and I got such a kick out of it. Yes he wore it on Valentine's Day, but puked on it before I remembered to get a picture. So, finally here are the pictures from Valentine's Day! :) I say, his heart better belong to mommy if I'm up with him at 3 in the morning! (Notice the bags around the eyes, and ignore the green. problems uploading again.) I keep hoping that each night will be the magical night that he just decides to sleep through the night. It hasn't happened yet, but I'm hopeful. He's such a sweetheart.

Fun day!

Something that's been harder for Richie and I since Miles was born is adjusting to each other! Crazy yes, but our lives have changed drastically and we're still trying to fit in this new stage of life. Such a fun journey. But we have been trying extra hard to focus on each other more, even though there is 3 in our family now. So on Friday, I planned a "date". I made semi-special dinner and laid it out in the living room like a picnic. We ate while Miles slept and then watched "Vertigo" with Jimmy Stewart. We'd never seen it before, but it was kind of a weird show. So, even though Miles was on the date with us, it still felt special.
Then yesterday, Richie went to swing in the morning and I went to a Relief Society activity in the afternoon. When I cam back, Richie was burned out of doing homework and the weather was fair, so we decided to go for a walk. We took Miles and walked a ways up Main street to a craft store so I could buy some buttons. On the way back, we saw a Mexican restaurant we have never been to, and randomly decided to go in. Mind you, since we have been dating Richie and I have only gone out to eat at sit down restaurants 3 times when we've had to pay for it ourselves. So this was VERY out of the ordinary. But Miles was good and we played the game "bananagram" that we bought at the craft store while we waited for our food.
When we got home, we watched "Mr. Smith goes to Washington". Such a better Jimmy Stewart movie. We highly recommend it.
Anyway, every now and then, it's so fun to do out of the ordinary things, and this weekend was one of those! Hooray!

5.5 Hours of Sleep!

Yes, it's true. Miles slept from 10:15 last night to 3:45 this morning. That's 5.5 hours, count em! Then after a late night meal, he went back to sleep until 8 am. It was glorious. I'm hoping this is the beginning of him learning to sleep through the night. I have been reading the first Babywise book about how to get your baby on a schedule and sleeping through the night. I think some of the things I have been trying are working!! Although letting him cry and teaching him to fall asleep on his own isn't always fun.

(Sorry about the poor quality. Something happened when I tried to upload it..and other pictures. This is the one that turned out the best! This is him right after his favorite thing...bathtime! He loves getting a bath and then laying out in front of the heater:)

Another high note of yesterday was that Miles actually let us go walking at the college! BYU-I has a community walk time every day from 1130 to 1230 where anyone can come walk on the indoor track. Since it's still in the 30's here in Rexburg, things to do for me to get back in shape are limited. Every time i try to get Miles ready to go walking, he is instantly not happy and hungry, so we haven't gone yet. But yesterday, he was fed and happy by 11:15 and we went walking!! Wahoo! Now, I know I just had him about 5 weeks ago so I still can't work out very strenuously, but I feel great and need to do something active, so I thought walking would be perfect. As it turns out, my body and my mind have 2 very different ideas about what I should be doing. They got in a fight yesterday while walking. It went something like this:

Body: Ouch! Ouch! Stop walking.
Mind: Oh c'mon you wuss, you've only walked around the track like 5 times
Body: Hey I had a baby pretty recently, take it easy!
Mind: Oh yeah? See that girl in your ward over there? I happen to know she had a baby about 7 weeks ago, and she's jogging! You've still got about 15 unwanted pounds at least to get rid of. Get movin!
Body: You think I didn't notice? I'm the one that still can't fit into pre-pregnancy clothes! Ouch! Ouch!

Eventually the mind succumbed and let my body stop walking after about 45 minutes. Mind:0 Body:1

We have also started taking Miles to church with us, which is so nice to be able to go to the full block with both Richie and Miles. We are also now taking Miles dancing. Actually, we took him dancing the entire 9 months including two times the week he was born! My water even broke while listening to swing records! But, he's pretty good when we take him dancing, and it's nice to dance with Richie again and not get so dizzy and worn out. Although I have a lot of catching up to do with swing!
