Lovin you, is some kind of wonderful

This past Friday Richie and I celebrated our 2nd anniversary! But 2 years pales in comparison to others that share our anniversary. My parents celebrated their 39th anniversary on Friday, my grandma and grandpa Hinckley would have been celebrating 70 some odd years of marriage, my grandpa Hinckley would have been celebrating his 99th birthday, and Richie's Grandma Linda and Grandpa Kenneth would be celebrating the day they were sealed in the temple. When Richie and I got engaged, I told him I'd always wanted to be married on June 26th to carry on the tradition. He readily agreed, but after 5 or so months of engagement we thought we were crazy to wait so long! But we made it, and now I am so happy and proud to share this date with so many wonderful people in our families.
All pictures of our wedding etc are not readily available on our computer, and I don't want to take the effort to scan them in. Yup, just lazy about it. You know what we look like anyway right?

Here's how we celebrated
730 am: Rich: See ya later Honey, I'm off to work. Happy Anniverysary!
Rach: *sigh, roll over, back to sleep

1 pm: Rachel takes her ring in to get cleaned for free! (Richie lost his earlier that week! :( Sad day)

530 pm: Rush to get ourselves and Miles ready

545 pm: Rach runs in to the most romantic, near fast food place in Rexburg, "The Pita Pit" where the lucky couple has a coupon to get 2 pitas for 10 dollars! What a deal!

600 pm: Eat the Pitas in the car in our Sunday clothes on our way to Kam and Mal's place

6:15 pm Drop Miles off, head for the temple

630 pm Sit in Sealing Room on the 3rd floor and remember how grateful we are to be sealed for time and all eternity, followed by a session of sealings.

830: Get a Jamba Juice and pick up Miles

900 pm Feed Miles while watching "Gilmore Girls" (guilty pleasure)

910 pm watch him throw it all up

915pm change all our clothes, clean the couch, put Miles to bed

945 pm I reveal the greatest anniversary gift of all time, pictured below. ( I can't take all the credit for this, I got the idea off another friend's blog)

11pm still talking and laughing

1130 go to bed

All in all, it was a GREAT anniversary! Once again, we didn't get many pictures. For some reason, we're not too good at that. Oh well. We both agree these have BY FAR been the best 2 years of our lives. Can't wait to see what's in store for us! And just in case Richie ever decides to read our blog... I love you babe!

This is the board game I made him called "Love Land", modeled after candy land of course. For start, it was "June 26th 2007", and the end was "Home Sweet Home". Instead of the gumdrop forest etc we had "Gray Day" Spaces where you couldn't move until you gave a kiss and drew a yellow card. There were also "Awkward silence" space where you had to draw a conversation card for help. Those were questions like "If you could sum up our first year of marriage in one statement, what would it be?" and "What was most memorable about the day Miles was born?". There were also ups and downs ( like chutes and ladders) that happened if you did the dishes or forgot a special day. It was definitely a cheap, but fun gift and so much fun to play with each other.

re-cap

Well, I haven't posted much about our daily goings-on lately, so it's not very exciting stuff I guess, but it's the good stuff. We have some awesome friends here named the Christensens. Richie served with Mikel on his mission in Hawaii and we have since become quite close with the family. Mikel's brother Al got married this last weekend! (Congrats guys!) To escape the business of preparing for the wedding, Richie planned the coolest date for us. After we ate dinner, he made me leave the house and when I came back, he had set up the tent in the living room with the air mattress and sleeping bags in it! Then we called Mike and Megan and we went to this awesome park in Rexburg that hardly anyone knows about, it seems like, called Eagle Park and Campground and we roasted hot dogs and had smores and played horseshoes. It was awesome! While there we saw rabbits, baby rabbits, snakes, birds, squirrels, and a porcupine up in a tree!! Then Richie and I came back and watched a movie and had a campout in the front room. Such a good time.

Then the day of the wedding, while we were over at their house, Miles got sick for the first time! (Sorry again that he puked all over your nice clean patio!) It was terrible. I'm just glad it only lasted for half of a day. After throwing everything up, and more, he crashed on our bed and slept for a few hours. When he woke up he was rosy cheeked and ready to go again! What a champion.

And Sunday was Father's Day! Richie's First. Father's Day, our anniversary, and his birthday all fall within about 2 weeks of each other, so I didn't do anything huge for him on Sunday, but I did want to make it special. The day started off with some unscheduled cuddling and playing with Miles. Then we had a special breakfast where he got his gift of some sweet aviator glasses he'd been wanting. Later on we had a yummy dinner and went over to a friends house to watch a movie.

Dear Journal

Dear Journal,
Yesterday was the craziest day. After I was such a good boy and slept for 9 hours, I was still punished. What more do they want from me? Mom and I left early in the morning and she took me to a building I knew I had been to before, because as soon as we walked in, a deep sense of foreboding entered my soul; an unwelcome, yet familiar feeling. We stepped into a large room with lots of people waiting, and a man kept whistling at me. Yeah right, like I'm going to smile for such little effort. People are always in my face trying to get a reaction out of me. Every once in a while, when I feel someone is sufficiently worthy, I'll appease the masses with a smile, perhaps a giggle. Mom says they would even bug me when I was still in her tummy! How over-anxious!
Eventually a lady called us into another room where they weighed me. I'm happy to say I'm growing well and am now almost 17 pounds, 25 and 1/2 inches, and still have a larger than average head, to house my larger than average brain. Women kept coming up to me and commenting on my rosy cheeks and made me feel so safe. I was almost asleep in my mother's arms, when THEY came in. Two women, equipped with needles, band-aids and the most sorrowful looks on their faces. It all came back to me. "I know what they're plotting to do!" I thought to myself. As they laid me on the sanitary paper, I pleadingly looked into the nurses eyes as if to say "No, not again! Not me!!" It didn't seem as if my dashingly good looks were going to be enough to get me out of this one, so in haste, I grabbed one of the nurses fingers with my hand. She paused momentarily,"Oh! What a sweet baby!" she said. I thought I had won, and then......OUCH!!! They did it! They poked me 3 times in my chubby legs as my own flesh and blood held them down. How could she? The nurses realized the pain they had caused me and ran out of the room with their tails between their legs, so to speak. Good riddance!
My mom picked me up, and spoke soothing words to me. I was immediately calmed and by the time we walked out of that awful place, I was fast asleep. I'll write more later when I'm not busy eating or pooping.
Sincerely,
Miles

Miles and his first try with cereal. Doesn't his face make him look fatter than just almost 17 pounds? :) Love that boy.

I'm glad I love living a normal life, otherwise, this last week would have been BORING!

Yeah, this last week we just did regular stuff, but it was a great week nonetheless!
Monday: We planted a very small garden in these buckets by our door. In one bucket we planted tomatoes, in the other, green peppers. We also planted some cucumbers and sunflowers next to the fence across from our door. We really wanted to do a big garden, but, no can do. The issue was, "Ok, do we practice self-reliance even though "the garden" wouldn't be extremely fruitful and it would end up costing us more then we reap?" We decided to practice being self-reliant. One day we'll have a fabulous garden.

I also went to the Dentist! (Sorry, no pictures, I thought that might be weird) Richie did have an appointment, but had to cancel last minute. This is our big anniversary present to each other. :) Since we don't have dental insurance, but need to get our teeth cleaned, we decided that would be our big splurge to celebrate our 2 years together! We're going to have a lot more to smile about so I guess we'd better be ready!

Something we've been trying to do since Miles was born is go on a weekly date, and we switch off planning the dates for each other. This Friday was my turn. I've got it easy because all Richie wants to do is frisbee golf, so we made homemade pizza, went to the park to "frolf" and came back and watched a movie.
On Friday, after much effort, Miles figured out how to roll over!! Wahoo!! I never thought that something so small could be so exciting! But even more exciting than that...I know hard to beat, but even more exciting than rolling over, Miles slept through the night again last night! That makes 3 time he's slept for 8 hours in a row. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
Ahhh, life is good.
