Italy Trip- Assisi

We said goodbye to Florence the next morning by driving up to a look out point to see the whole city scape. We snapped a few photos, then got on the bus to head towards Assisi. It's a teeny tiny town, build mostly for the Basillica of St. Francis of Assisi. It's this humble, medieval town built on a hill.  This was a top 5 moment for Richie and I. It was raining, and before entering the Cathedral, our tour guide said we must be very quiet inside because the nuns and monks were holding a service. They were dressed like typical medieval monks and nuns, with brown robes tied at the waist with a rope, and the nuns in the black and white dresses with head coverings. As our tour guide took us to a secluded spot and whispered information and history about the paintings and the building, Richie and I took out our ear pieces and listened to the monks and nuns sing traditional chants and songs. It was incredible. Then we wandered around up through the tiny twisting streets and found some delicious food before getting on the bus again.  We ended up in Rome by night.
