Silverwood Trip

We feel like life is speeding by at lightning speed. We can't believe we are coming up on Miles's senior year! We felt like we needed to prioritize a family trip with just our family. We decided that because we had some free passes to Silverwood, we would make a trip of it. 

We rented an airbnb in Coeur D'lane and the kids made themselves right at home and got in the hot tub.  The next morning we went on a little hike around Tubb's hill, played in the water a bit around Lake Coeur D'lane, and then got some delicious burgers and huckleberry shakes at a local place. 

The next day was our big Silverwood day. We got there right as it opened, and stayed till it closed! I was nervous about spending a whole day in a theme park with the heat and crowds, but it actually turned out so well. The weather was mild and the crowds were minimal. Davy was tall enough to ride all the rides! The park is big enough that it's fun for a whole day, but small enough that it's not overwhelming. We spent some time all together, and at other times let the older 3 be on their own. It was awesome! 

We spent our last day at Farragut State Park. There's an awesome museum there that used to be a pow prison from WW2. The Lakes in the park are some of the deepest in the country, so during the war, they had a naval training base there so they could run submarines in the lakes! After the museum, we ate at a hilarious and greasy bar on the lake. Then we rented canoes and paddle boards and spend the rest of the afternoon on Lake Pend Orielle. It was one of the most gorgeous lakes and spaces I've ever been in.

We left the next morning and took the more scenic route home. Idaho has some of the cutest small towns! We stopped in a small town where the only restaurant seemed to be a place called "Radonnas", the type of place where Cheryl who has smoked her whole life has her 10 year old grandson bussing tables and the local church group comes in every Sunday after services for coffee. 

It was so good to spend uninterrupted time with each other. That's what makes trips like this magical- we have puzzles at home, but we also have a million different distractions at home that make staying up late to finish the puzzle seem silly, but not on a family trip. So grateful for this time with everyone before life massively shifts.
