Christmas and New Years 2023

Looks like the photos uploaded backwards :) oh well! We decided to do Christmas in SG this year. Usually, we will spend actual December 24-25 at home and then travel to a grandparent's house for the break; It makes it so you don't have to pack everything! But this year, I really wanted to spend Christmas Eve and Day with Dad. It was our first Christmas without Mom, and even though I knew he had lots of family in SG that he could go to for dinner etc, I thought it would be nice for him to share in the magic of Christmas with little kids in the house.  He was there to see the kids get their Christmas pj's and read the Christmas story with us, and in the morning, he was up bright and early ready with a trash bag and the extra batteries. It was a happy memory for me- I hope it was for him too.

We tried to carry on the tradition, somewhat, of a grandkid's sleepover. It was nothing like the ones Grandma would do, but we tried. :) We talked about the story in the BoM where Nephi brakes his bow and has to seek guidance from the Lord to know where to get food. We talked about what we should be aiming for in our lives. We painted arrow ornaments, had pizza, and then went to a neighbor's house who runs an archery school out of their garage!

We made it back to Nampa in time for New Years. A neighbor invited us over for a bonfire, we measured everyone on the door, we watched "It's a Wonderful Life", but I think my favorite memory was Richie teaching the kids some basic dancing skills in the living room.
