May 2023 was an extremely hard month. Right after Grandma and Grandpa's 75th birthday celebration, Grandma took a turn. Most of the month of May was spent on pins and needles waiting to see what would happen and she went in and out of the hospital, and eventually had hospice come to their home.
But here are other notables that happened that month.
At the beginning of 2023, we ventured out on our own and started began our own official window washing business. It was to be called "Bluebird Window Washing". Richie was busy doing all of the behind the scenes work, when a few months into the year, we ran into some old aquaintances. They told us that they had a lighting company/window washing company, but their lighting side was doing so well, they were struggling with the window side of things. Long story short, we felt like the timing was divine and we decided to partner with them, with the hope that they would bring in a warm customer base. The company was called "Shine Guys" and here's the white van, all wrapped in the new logo.

I was doing my best to work my side hustles. I was promoting my basket business at different realty offices. I also had my very first craft fair! I had a booth at the Nook and Cranny sale. I now understood the insane amount of work these things are! I learned so much and all the other vendors were so kind and helpful. Honestly, it was hard to put on a brave face- during this particular weekend, I remember getting phone calls about Mom while I was at my booth, and having to sneak behind the barn to cry for a bit, then return with a smiling face to hopefully sell some soap!

My friends Aesalina and Clarissa and I decided to host a free clothing swap. (Because I'm writing this a few years after the fact, I can't remember if this was our first one or not. We hosted several over the course of a few years.) We advertised to the community, collected bags and bags of donated clothes, sorted them, laid them out, and put up a huge sign in front of the church that said, "FREE CLOTHES". We had all sorts of people come by. I love these gals so much, and I loved doing this tradition with them before they both moved. What a relatively easy way to bless people's lives and create community!
The James Family came for a visit! Here we are swimming in Grandma and Grandpa's new pond in Middleton!
I surprised Richie with tickets to go see Jordan Peterson! One of Richie's favorite talking heads and authors. :)
Had to document Miles's first official pay stub and his dirty hands from working at Brother Svedin's nursery!
A fun day with the younger 2! I don't remember now where the older 3 were, but we went shopping at costco and then went to a new library. Sometimes I feel guilt that I did certain activities with the older kids, but the younger 2 didn't really get the same treatment. It was fun to pretend Benson and Davy were my 2 olders.
Other May Notables!
