First Half of August 2021

Lunch Date with Davy! All we did was go to Wendy's, but he loved it so much that anytime Richie or I says, "We're going on a date!" Davy automatically thinks its about him and wants to go get chicken nuggets. :)

Day at the Fogle's using our shibori dye kit!

Service Day was on our summer bucket list, so we spent the day doing service. The kids helped me come up with ideas. First we went to Walmart and each kid got $1 to hide somewhere for someone to find. They got a kick out of this! Then we went to the police station and delivered them zucchini bread and thank you notes. I think they were all a little star struck in front of a real live police officer. Then we went to the park and handed out free popsicles! Quick way to make friends! The kids loved it so much, they insisted it become a new summer tradition.

Benson's funny faces. :) Only a few of the hundreds I find on my phone regularly.

We spent a day with the Fogle's up in Mccall to go huckleberry picking. The drive was longer than I had anticipated, and the huckleberries were pretty much gone. We came home with less than 1/4 a cup. What a let down! But the kids had fun being with each other nonetheless. We picnicked and then swam in the reservoir for a while. Pretty good way to spend a summer day I guess. At least the kids can say they've been huckleberry picking, which is basically an Idaho rite of passage.

Miles joined a football league! I was surprised he said yes when Kam brought it up. It has ended up being a way bigger time commitment than we anticipated, but it's been really good for Miles, so it's all worth it. As with most new things, there has been a learning curve and some frustration, but overall, Miles would tell you it's been great.

Getting ready for back to school! I like to really ease everyone into it. Back to school shopping is always very exciting and a fun way to get their brains headed in that direction again.

Hair cuts!

Homesteading Life: including corn harvest, my first batch of goat milk soap, a fridge full of produce ready to go out to customers, and a nearly drowned turkey that we had to nurse back to health in our bathroom overnight.
