I'm so lucky! I got to go to Canada with my Mom and my sisters. Richie's parents came up to help watch the kids. I flew up to Washington and we stayed in a cute little air bnb in Bellingham, right across the border from Canada. We loved the foggy mornings out in the country with the hammock and goats. We loved stopping at Whatcomb falls, the Mission Home where Grandma and Grandpa Hinckley served with their 3 teenage daughters and a young Elder Crosby, Capilano suspension bridge, and Butchart Gardens.
We also stopped by the school Mom attended when she lived there and tried to find the old restaurants she frequented. It was now a franchise and much changed, but we did try the famous Canadian "poutine". Meh.
Mom was such a trooper, despite feeling the effects of Cancer. She took breaks when she needed, reluctantly let us push her in a wheelchair around the expansive and beautiful Butchart Gardens, and declined climbing in the treetops at Capilano suspension bridge. Instead she stayed on the ground and waved to us girls above and took pictures.
It was so special to share this experience with my mom and sisters, and be taken on a memory tour from when my mom was a teen/young adult. I'll be forever grateful for this time! I wish I had taken more pictures!
