Insert wise and whimsical Irish phrase here _______

So this past Friday we had our friends the Christensens over for IRISH NIGHT! We realized it's way early for St. Patrick's Day, but wanted to do it to make sure we got it in, in case our scheduling changed, plus we were just itching for something out of the ordinary.
The menu consisted of Corned Beef and Cabbage, Irish Soda Bread, Pistachio Pudding squares, and a pint....of root beer. Megan brought over some delicious fruit salad and a totally Irish movie for us to watch. "Secret of the Roan Inish" The girls liked it, the boys preferred to make commentary throughout to make it more interesting. We listened to Irish Pub songs on Pandora, and had a fantastic, out of the ordinary, Irish night!
If anyone's interested in the recipe's above, let me know! They are in the "Mormon Celebrations" cookbook if you have that. Everything turned out way yummier than I was expecting, and much easier. So if you're looking to do something special for St. Patty's day, this might stir things up a bit. Richie has also had fun finding clovers around the house that I planted. It's such a fun idea for spouses or for kids. I found the idea at Love Actually, whose button is on the right side of the screen.

Totally unrelated: Miles caught a case of the croup (sp?) this weekend. So not fun. If anyone has any creative ideas on how to ease the symptoms, let me know.

My favorite Irish movie is Darby O'Gill and the little people.
Wait, no it's not. That movies terrifies me, you should check it out.

SO much fun- love it!!! And Croup is miserable. You may already know this, but steaming up the bathroom with a hot shower and then taking them in there to breath can help. It's like a little mini breathing treatment.

Exposing them to the cold can ease breathing too. Try cracking a window and putting him near it. Unfortunately, croup seems to hit hardest in the middle of night, and the cough sounds like Death itself. Zadi had it 4 years in a row, usually around the same time each year. Invest in a vaporizer/humidifier combo cause chances are, he will have it once a year until he is 5.

If he starts to show major difficulty breathing, and you've tried all the above mentioned, do NOT hesitate to take him in to the ER. Croup can progress very quickly and you have to really pay attention to their breathing. Some kids handle it better than others. We never had any scares with Izzy, but the two times Theo has had it, we have had to rush to the ER, because his throat was closing.

Wish I had your get up and go attitude. The food looked really good and by all means post your recipes. Hope Miles is feeling better soon!
