Christmas Festivities

Christmas Eve
We spent Christmas Eve at the Garner's house eating broccoli cheese soup and rolls, decorating cookies for Santa, and recreating the nativity. This year, Gwen played Mary, Miles was a Wiseman, and Lindy played baby Jesus. :) We exchanged gifts and headed home to find our Christmas PJ's and keepsake book on our beds. We had been tracking Santa's route online and finding where he was at on our globe during the day. So after the kids were in bed, I saw that he was in New York. I went in to tell Miles, who was super excited, and then he proceeded to wake Gwen up just to tell her that Santa was getting close. :) Normally, this is about the time I would kick it into high gear and prepare myself for a late night. However, a nasty cold had got a hold of me the day before and after I took some medicine and got all loopy, I was out. We managed to get the basics done though. Whew!

Christmas Day

This is about the best picture I could get of all three kids in line to go into the living room. They were so excited and barely wanted to eat their German pancakes and grapefruit. Santa brought them a marble track (big hit). Miles got his soccer ball book and a soccer ball. He loves his legos and has been thoroughly creative with them already. Gwen got some of her very own makeup and has been giving EVERYONE makeovers. She also loved her magnetic doll kit. Lindy thought all the commotion and paper to rip was pretty cool. They are really excited for swimming lessons from Grandma and Grandpa Crosby and have loved playing pretend nurse and mailman thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Garner. You know, every year I "collect" presents for Christmas throughout the year, and when it comes time to pull it all out I just worry and hope that it will be enough. Every single year, we get everything set up and then I am forced to put some back downstairs because they have too much! Our neighbors were par for the course again and brought over bags and bags of gifts. Both Scotty and Lisa and Tony and Rachel. We have been blessed with some awesome neighbors. Our kids are "well taken care of" (ahem, spoiled). :)

St. George
We cleaned up as best we could, tried to tackle the clean laundry pile at least a little so we had clean clothes to pack, stuffed the car full and headed to St. George to spend the rest of our Christmas break. That night we had a wonderful meal followed by a great program. Miles was a shepherd and Gwen was an angel.

We ate, stayed up late, saw everyone, etc etc etc. It was fantastic as usual. Something that I felt silly for never doing before was taking the kids to the temple grounds. I can't remember ever taking them there, in all the times we've gone down! Shame on me. We walked around and took pictures, listened to the nativity, went inside the visitors center where I got to show them the cannon that their ancestor,Jesse Wentworth Crosby brought all the way from Nauvoo that helped construct the foundation of the temple.
