First Half of December

School Stuff: I believe pictured here you'll see Lindy working on some cvc words by painting over my chalk versions with water, magic sight words with watercolors, homeschool group making Christmas ornaments, Christmas poetry tea time, took the oldest 3 to see "Christmas Around the World" at BYU (always magical), red and green dried macaroni for some sensory play, and some real life graphing with paper and the shoes in our house for Lindy. :)

Lindy has been taking a little karate class through the city. We really enjoyed it, so we were bummed to find out they were ending the class in December. The short time that Lindy participated, she really enjoyed herself and did so well!! Her teacher said she was a natural. I sat in on a few practices and was super impressed by her ability to recall everything. They had a ceremony at the end and she advanced to yellow belt status. At the ceremony she also beat out all of the students including all but 2 of the black belts in a karate version of Simon says! We'll see if she wants to continue this. ? She was thrilled to have the spotlight on her for a bit and felt so proud! We were so proud of her!!

Miles received his "Arrow of Light"! My brain was overloaded with things, and I totally spaced that he would be getting this award at pack meeting that night. It was one of those crazy nights where we had to divide and conquer, so Richie was with Gwen at her Christmas piano recital (he got video but no picture for proof) but luckily they made it back in time to see Miles get this award. He hadn't forgotten about it and was so excited, in a very dignified almost 11 year old way. You could tell he felt so honored. :) He was busy giving his buddies congratulatory handshakes etc. It was cute. Proud of this boy for his hard work. He really loves scouts.

Benson and Davy time while the older kids are at Canyon Grove! Making cinnamon ornaments, going to cool libraries, and making gingerbread play-doh. :)

Miles at his Christmas Uke concert! His band performed 2 songs, including one that Miles wrote! Wow! He had mentioned casually that he was writing one for the next concert, and I honestly didn't know how seriously to take him. I know he had some help from his teacher, but I was blown away! Not only did he write it, he introduced it and sang it in front of everyone! He exuded confidence up there! Even dancing a little while he sang. I asked him after if he was nervous at all, and he said, "Not really". :) Go Miles!

We decided to go caroling as a homeschool group to a rest home, and while we were up in SLC we decided to hit the Giving Vending Machines! So fun!

Visiting with Santa at the Ward Breakfast!

Family Swim Day, followed by cuddling on the couch and watching "Elf" :)

We said good bye to the last of our chickens and rabbit. We took them to Shane's farm because we had a dumpster we were renting for home renovations, and we figured we could get rid of the coop and hutch while it was there. It's good from a "preparing to move" standpoint, but really sad when I have to buy store bought eggs!!
