Second Half of September

Homeschool Group to West Jordan Conservation Center- This was such a cool place I had no idea was right under our noses! The kids had a great time walking the beautiful grounds and learning about native plants and ways to conserve water.

Hinckley Cousin Connection- Every couple of years, the Hinckley cousins get together. Only the remaining aunts and uncles, and the 1st cousins and spouses. For a long time, we tried to do a little day reunion with everyone (including children) but it just got too chaotic. We had a wonderful time visiting with everyone, but Richie's favorite (mine too) was chatting with Uncle Lon. We got a kick out of their similarities; work jeans, flannel shirt, baseball cap, work boots. Within 30 seconds of talking with him, we were right in sync, talking about farming, politics regarding refugees etc. It was fantastic.

Benson time- More pictures of some fun things I try to do with Benson while the kids are at Canyon Grove. We had an orange day; orange color bath (complete with pumpkins), and an all orange lunch. :) Oh, and check out that Lego creation. He did it all by himself! I was blown away.

Date with Lindy- I love getting this one-on-one time with my kids. The last time I took the kids on dates was right before Davy was born. It was way overdue. And the last time, I was SO pregnant, I couldn't do much of anything. So I'm trying to make this round of dates extra special. I took Lindy to get a real-life pedicure! She's always wanting to treat me to her own pedicures at home, I thought she'd get a kick out of getting a professional one herself. I think I've only gotten a pedicure maybe once or twice in my life, so this was a unique experience. :) She felt incredibly special and told everyone for days afterwards about our outing and basically forced people to check out her toes. Mission accomplished.

Cupboards- We have embarked on a monumental task. Operation Kitchen Remodel has officially begun. Mom and Dad Garner bought us these used cabinets off ksl months ago and they've been sitting in our garage on account of me having a baby, adjusting to 5 kids, starting homeschool again, and gardening/canning season. However, I knew if I didn't start painting them now, it would be too cold soon. And when I friend mentioned she had a paint gun I could use, I decided to just go for it. I was hoping I'd be done with the painting part by now. HA! One week was a fraction of the time I need. What I really need is to not have 5 children at home during this process. It kind of slows everything waaaaaay down. We'll get there, and hopefully it will look amazing and up the resale value of our home.

Apple Juicing Round 1- Our friends, the Andersons, found some apples they could pick for free. We helped them make juice last year, and were happy to help them do it again this year. It's such a fun process.

Walking with the boys- Our van had some trouble again. (yay) So I drove it to the shop on Wednesday when 3 out of 5 kids were at school. Then Benson, Davy and I walked home from the repair shop. I was a little nervous, but we made it. I brought the hiking backpack and umbrella stroller, but I hardly had to use the backpack at all because Benson rode his balance bike almost the entire way home. No small feat! I was so impressed. He's really getting the hang of it. Probably about the last 1/4th of the way, he started getting distracted really easily and stopping (we watch construction workers, wandered around a Nursery, picked pinecones off a tree), whining a bit, and then he just decided he'd just lay in the middle of the road. This coping mechanism is becoming a pattern, and it cracks me up. Don't worry, we made it home just fine.

My favorite Lindy selfie as of late
