First Day
We met everyone at Bridal Veil Falls to picnic and "hike" around. Then we found our GIGANTIC cabin up in Midway and got settled. The "cabin" was huge and the kids were content exploring it for hours and hours. Complete with a pool, hot tub, sauna, racquetball court, game room, movie room, trampoline, sand box, fire pit, etc etc etc. Every family had their own room and bathroom. It was awesome. That night Grandma and Grandpa put on a family trivia game with the famous "Wheel of Fortune" wheel. The kids were in total heaven. Cousins to play with, swimming, tons of prizes to win during the game, and staying up late. Basically the best day ever.
Day 2
We spent most of this day at the Jordanelle Reservoir. Dad brought kayaks and tons of lawn games and that kept everyone happy and occupied for hours on end. Later that night, we had dinner and played the famous "Sniff the Broom" game. If you get it, you get it. :) Of course every day was interspersed with swimming, game playing, snacking, staying up late and lots of laughing. My kids LOVE their cousins.
Day 3
This day we decided to ride the Heber Train. It was ridiculously overpriced, and for the adults...let's just say not our favorite activity. I think the kids thought it was cool, which is the whole point, right? Right???? Having little kids is hard. Benson got sick of it half way through, and then had to be entertained the rest of the time. And trying to get Davy to eat and sleep and not cry on a crowded, hot train...was a challenge. Ah, memories. That night the kids put on skits about Grandma and Grandpa's life (hilarious) and of course, we stayed up late eating and talking.
family pictures
We also took a few impromptu family photos that night. The scenery was incredible and the lighting outside was magical. I wish I would have brought my actual camera. We left early the next morning (Sunday) in time to get to our church meetings. Man, I love this family of mine!

First Half of July
Richie turned 34!! Wahoo! To celebrate we invited the Tanners over to have dinner with us. Scottie and Niccolina are some of his good friends from BYU-Idaho (pre-mission). When he came back and we started dating, Scott and Niccolina were some of the first people he introduced me to, and they've since become our good friends. Eating yummy food and chatting with good friends is one of life's simple, best joys! I also sent him out to play frisbee golf with cousins earlier in the week aaaaand he got to buy new garments. :) Last time he needed replacements (at least a year ago), I bought them. Unfortunately I bought the wrong size and he didn't realize is till he opened all the packages and through away the plastic. Since we're too cheap to just go out and buy new ones, he's been looking forward to buying some properly fitting ones on his birthday. :) :) :) haha!
We like trying out new libraries in our area. They each have their own vibe, and different selections. We checked out the Draper library the other day, cashed in on all of our summer reading program coupons etc, decided that next time we make a library trip we will be bringing a rolly-back-pack to haul our loot away. I don't know why we haven't thought of it before. I love when we get home from a library trip, and the house is fairly quiet for 30 minutes or so because the kids are pouring over their new selections. Makes my mama heart happy.
Miles had scout camp. I think on his list of best days ever it goes Christmas, Birthday, then scout camp day. He seriously loves this. He saved a bunch of money so he could buy some junk food, a rabbit pelt, and a new legit pocket knife. So grateful for awesome leaders and that he could have this opportunity!
On one of the days I had to get Miles up and out the door early for Scout camp, I slept through my alarm and had to make a mad dash to get him there before they left. I was running around like crazy, but I did stop for 5 seconds to snap this gem. It's been going on for years, but I still don't understand why almost every night, there's at least 1 of our kids who has wandered onto our floor to spend the rest of the night. This morning it was 3, and 1 was pantless. :)
At activity days early in July, at Sister Peacock's house, I had to bring all the kids with me. She has a cool play ground in her yard and Lindy was completely determined to get across the monkey bars. She always tries them out at playgrounds, but usually needs some assistance. This day, she had me help her a little the first time, but after that she did it on her own and was SO incredibly proud. Made me very happy.
We finally finished reading, "Heidi". It took a while. It's a long book! But so, so good. I love doing these read aloud with the kids. I either get to re-visit literature I loved as a kid, or I get to discover new favorites. "Heidi" is a new favorite. To celebrate, we did a small hike to get us feeling like we lived in the Swiss Alps, like Heidi. Unfortunately, although our hike was beautiful, I don't think it was quite Alps worthy. :) Then we ate goat cheese, goat's milk, and soft white rolls (in honor of 'the grandmother'). We came back home to watch the Shirley Temple version of Heidi, which was sorely inaccurate, but cute anyway. And uncle Jacob slept over! A good family night.
Gwen and Lindy are doing a little rec center gymnastics class this month. It's really fun to watch them. Lindy's style is very precise while Gwen's is more lyrical. :) Although it's only 4 classes total, they are really enjoying it and seeing improvements.
What a joy to walk through the garden, pick some things, and have your main ingredients for dinner that night! Sounds cheesy, but it's seriously thrilling.
Richie helped the kids start a little lawn-mowing business. At this point, it's just our lawn, grandma and grandpa's, and one of our neighbors. They could easily expand it, but for the ages our kids are at, this is plenty. And they are making a crazy amount of money for an 8 and 10 year old. We've started doing "chore money" a little differently at home, and helping them be a little more intentional about savings etc, and having them pay for more of their things. It's been good so far. And Richie is an amazing Dad for doing this with them. He comes back every week, despite the hot outdoors, and the hassle, giving glowing reports of everything this is teaching our kids.
Obligatory cute Davy pictures!!
