Field Trip Friday! We used our Thanksgiving Point pass and went to the dinosaur museum. It wasn't too busy, the kids were well behaved...it was a great way to spend a morning!
So we were able to buy, at a very good price, Richie's Grandma's van. (yay!) So we are in the process of selling our old van. The night after we had it all professionally cleaned, there was a massive wind storm here. In the morning, I looked out the window to see our basketball hoop leaning on top of the van! I was so worried that it dented the top and that we wouldn't be able to re-sell it. Then I realized that the hoop hit the van directly on top of the storage rack! The van was fine! In fact if it hadn't hit there, the hoop would have hit the ground, and probably broken! I was grateful for that tender mercy.
Richie and the kids were in the Bluffdale City Play, "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat". They have been going once a week for months now, but the last week is brutal. They are gone for hours every night, not usually getting to bed until 10pm. This resulted in otherwise avoidable tantrums and meltdowns. One particular day, it was like they were all taking turns whining. I was going crazy and Richie asked me if it was worth it. I told him to ask me later when the play was over. :) My answer then, and most times, is YES! It's totally worth it. They grow so much during these plays. I wanted to cry every time they came on stage. They knew all their words, songs, entrances, exits, etc. Last year, Richie was able to stay right with them to help direct them. This year, they were on their own, and I was a little worried. But they did so great. I am a proud mama, and a grateful wife! Richie was roped into playing "The Butler". It was a small enough part he could commit to and he did great, of course. So many friends from the neighborhood were in it too and the entire play was so well done. One of my favorite community plays I've seen.
Another Field Trip Friday to Thanksgiving Point! The Tulip Festival is going on, so we wanted to make sure we hit that up. It was all fun and games, truly a wonderful outing, until I gave the kids 2 choices for a treat (rookie mistake). They couldn't decide on one, so I did, and someone who shall remain unnamed, pouted for a reeeally long time. Never a dull moment, right?
Gwen and I got free tickets to go see "Little Women", the musical that Riverton City was putting on. It was a really well done production! So fun to be with just my Gwen!
The Jordan River Temple is being rededicated. We were able to take the kids inside on a tour. This makes 3 temples we've been able to take them inside. It's one of those experiences where I'm just hoping and praying that something is sinking in, deep-deep down inside them. I'm so excited for this temple to be open again!
Last weekend, Jacob graduated from BYU. We went down to support. We walked around BYU campus and got ice cream while the actual ceremony was going on (cause let's be honest, no one wants a Benson sitting next to them during an hour long commencement speech), and then greeted him with signs and hugs. We played at a park and ate lunch with everyone after.
Later that night, we dropped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's house for a sleepover! Richie's work put us up in the Little America Hotel in SLC for their yearly recognition dinner/training. They usually don't do the hotel thing, so it was extra special. We ate yummy food, stayed in a nice hotel, Richie humored me by walking around downtown (which he hates) to people watch, taking selfies with me (which he hates) and mostly we just enjoyed uninterrupted time together. It's really such a luxury!
