Miles is so fun lately. He tries to imitate our faces and noises. These are a couple of his attempts to imitate our "surprised" face! I love it!

Mount Naomi
This past weekend we met Richie's family in Logan to hike Mount Naomi. At first I thought, I'm tired enough, I don't need to hike 7 miles. But it turned out to be just what we both needed! :) Thanks Garners! They all take such good care of us, especially Miles. The only bad thing about hiking is that you are always looking down so you don't fall, so if you don't stop, you miss out on some of the BEAUTIFUL scenery! It was a really pretty area with a little lake so that when we got finished we put our feet in the shallow end to cool off :) Miles did so well, although Richie's shoulders are sore from carrying him the whole way.
The Men Folk
Sometimes I wish I knew what Miles was thinking...Like right now.
He got cold in his pack and play in the middle of the night, so we pulled him in between us and he slept like a rock! When we both got out of bed, he sunk down in the air mattress. :)
He loves to drink out of a cup like big people, so this is him giving it a try. Notice the soaked shirt!
We Made it!! Wahoo!
It was a beautiful day!

As Suggested...
Good Call mom-
Here's the recipe for the Doughnut Holes. I actually got the recipe from Jenn!
Basic Doughnut Holes
2T vegetable oil
3T sugar
1 large egg
1 C flour
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/4 t salt
4 T milk
1/8 t allspice (optional)
Combine well the oil, egg and milk. In a separate bowl combine well the sugar, flour, baking powder, salt and allspice. Then add the egg mixture to the dry mixture and combine well. Drop by spoonful into hot oil in deep pan on the stovetop or in deep fryer. Fry until golden brown. Remove from oil, draining carefully but while still damp from frying, roll hot doughnut holes in cinnamon sugar or powdered sugar or use the glaze.
Glaze:
1 C powdered sugar
1 T corn syrup
1 T hot water (may need more)
And to appease the masses...this is us as the park on Monday night for FHE

I guess there just isn't enough pictures of Miles on here. :) I really don't have that many new ones. I don't know if that makes me a bad mom or just not an obsessed mom? This is Miles getting his "get well card" from his Garner uncles. Thanks again! He's all better! By the way, at his last appointment he weighed 18 pounds, was 27 inches and had an 18 inch head. Percentile-wise, he's in the 50th for his weight, the 70th for his height and the 90th for his head! "Look at that huge noggin! It's like an orange on a toothpick!"
Sorry I forgot to rotate it!
The other night Richie and I watched Ratatouille and made doughnut holes. I'd say first attempt with those went quite well. apparently, we can't take a normal picture.

It's official....we're insane
Frequently, Richie and I talk about different things we'd like to do to make extra money, or things we'd be interested in doing for work. Those talks had become more frequent in the recent past as our savings account was drained from our little "bundle-of-joy". We thought maybe we'd try one idea here, another there, we just didn't think we'd be trying them all within 2 weeks! As of now, between the two of us, we are working 6 jobs. Like I said, we're insane! Richie has his steady job managing American Construction Supply, I have my steady "job" of managing the storage units here, we both work to promote the Woodside Dance Hall (which technically isn't a job, but we treat it like one). Then Richie got into Primerica, where he'll be learning about investments etc and helping families with their finances. We're still not to excited by the fact that it is a pyramid set up (and they never admit that it is) and the fact that Richie is going to have to talk to friends etc about their income. Other than that, we think it could turn into something really great. Richie also started his own business with his cousin Kam and 2 other friends doing concrete enhancement, namely sealings, stains, etc. They are calling it Summit Concrete Enhancement. They only officially started it on Saturday and already have 1 for sure job and 1 other bid! Then, I had decided I wanted to contribute more financially and Richie did some research on working from home. We found a deal where you work for ebay/google doing advertisements, selling, and possibly creating your own website to advertise on. But you create your own business and get it licensed and everything. You only have to work 10 hours a week and can do it whenever it's convenient so we'll see. It's much bigger than we originally thought, which makes us extremely anxious. Either it's going to be one big bust, or we're going to be skillionaires! So...
If anyone needs concrete supplies
a storage unit
to learn how to swing dance
a seal on your driveway
advice about insurance and investing
or advertising something on the internet
just give us a call! :)

6 Months and Roseola
I've heard that once your child hits 6 months, they start getting all kinds of sick! It's true! The fever that he had on Saturday that we thought was teething turned out to be something called Roseola. After his fever went down, we thought it was over, then he got a rash all over his head, neck and face. It has now spread to his abdomen and back. He's continually fussy, doesn't eat as much, and his schedule is wacky. So I took him to the doctor, who said this type of viral infection is very common in babies so not to worry, but it's very contagious to other babies, and it should go away in about 7 days. Later last night we had some friends over, and she diagnosed it as Roseola, which all of her kids had at some point she said. Anyway, if anyone out there who has a child who is having the same symptoms, you can go to kidshealth.org and search Roseola. There's some good info. But other than that bad news, he's still growing like a weed! He's now tanking in at 17 pounds and 13 ounces. My arms are gonna be so buff!!
My poor boy! If you look closely you can see his little rash! :( He's so tough though. We think he's near crawling any day now! (uh oh!) He is evolving from the "forehead first" crawl to actually getting up on his knees and arms and rocking!

Makin Baby Food
I decided that I would try out making my own baby food for Miles. It seems cheaper and healthier, so what's the downside?? It's actually REALLY easy too! If you go to wholesomebabyfood.com, it tells you how to do it, different recipes, at what age your child should be eating what foods etc. But basically all you do it cook the food how you normally would, then blend it up! They recommended putting it in ice cube trays. The serving size is easier to account for, it stays good for up to 6 months, it's easy to store and when you want to use one or two, you just pop one out and defrost it. featured below is this months special, sweet potatoes.
In other adventures, this past weekend Richie and I finally used his birthday check from his work and went out to Texas Roadhouse...soooo good! Then right after we went to a Chukars baseball game in IF with some people Richie works with. We were planning on paying $12 to get in, but as we were walking in some people gave us their 2 extra tickets for free!! WAHOO! A totally free night! The only downside was that while we were at the game, Miles got a fever and was super fussy. Thank goodness for Moms, sisters-in-law and sisters who have gone through this before, because I was getting kinds nervous!! We think he's teething! Exciting? I'm not sure, but I did have a dream the other night that when I went to get him in the morning he had a full set of teeth! Now that would be some pretty quick teething!
I'll have to post a picture of Miles in this outfit later, it's so dang cute. He even has little baby, blue, crocs on his feet! He looks so grown up in this outfit! He is 6 months now! He has an appointment in a couple of weeks so I can tell ya'll his stats :)
